About Us

 I, Matthew Arnsberger have 40-plus years of practical experience and academic training in landscaping, soils and horticulture. I did my undergraduate work in soils and horticulture at the University of MD in the late 70’s early 80’s and received a graduate degree in Land Planning and Landscape Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design, Conway, Massachusetts.

I have been operating Piedmont Environmental Landscaping and Design since 1998, and was one of the principle landscape designers for Niche Gardens in Chapel Hill. Niche Gardens has closed but I continue my independent design and installation services.

I also have a great deal of interest and experience in vegetable growing, edible landscapes, and permaculture, which include easy to care for fruiting plants, effective visual screens and rainwater catchment systems .
